Pick Your Own FAQs

  1. When are you open?

The flower field is usually open from 9am – 1pm on the 1st and 3rd weekend of the month i.e. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

At other times the flower field may be open by appointment.  Please contact me for further details.

  • Do I need to book?

There is no need to book on the 1st and 3rd weekend of the month (including the Friday of that weekend).

You WILL need to book if you want to come;

On a Weds or Thurs; I’m mostly there, but not always.

For weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun) falling on 2nd and 4th of the month; I do run workshops on these dates and may close the field for these so please just don’t turn up as you may be disappointed.

For a special event such as a wedding it’s always best to book in so as not to be disappointed.

Please contact me to book

  • Are you open on special occasions such as Mother’s Day or Easter?

On special occasions we may be open, depending on flower availability etc.  Information will be available via social media and the website.

  • How much does it cost?

Flowers are charged per stem.  For 2026 the price is 80p per stem for most flowers; dahlia, peony and roses are £1 per stem.  You can cut however many stems you like!

  • How do I pay?

Payment is taken after cutting when we count up how many stems you have.  Payment can be made via card, cash or bank transfer.  Gift vouchers or pre-payment can be arranged in advance.  Just contact me to do this.

  • Can I bring my children?

Absolutely!  Flower picking by children is encouraged, providing of course that they are sensible enough to hold some flower snips and follow simple instructions about how to cut the flowers. Smaller children can carry the flower buckets and choose which flowers you will cut!

There is very limited space inside the flower field for running around, but there are plenty of mini-beasts to hunt if flower picking becomes a bit boring for younger children.

Children must not be left unaccompanied, and should be with a responsible adult at all times.

  • Can I arrange a special one-off session, such as for a hen party?

Absolutely.  Please contact me directly to arrange this.

  • What do I need to bring with me?

You should bring a bucket / container with water in to take your flowers home in.

You can bring your own snips for cutting, or you can borrow a pair.

If you wish to cut wearing gardening gloves then that’s fine.

  • How long will the flowers last?

This depends on what stage you pick them at, how hot it is and how you look after them.  Care guidance will be given to you.  Many flowers last a good week if cut at the right stage and cared for properly, but it is your responsibility to follow this.  There are no guarantees given on how long flowers last when you have picked them.

  • How do I know what to pick?

I’ll give you a quick guide to what is good for picking that day, and will be on hand if you have any questions.  Occasionally there may be flowers that are reserved for someone which will be clearly signed.  Otherwise, you can pick whatever you feel like.

  • Where else can I buy your flowers?

Larger gift bouquets can be pre-ordered in advance. There may be a small number of pre-cut bunches available in the farm shop, depending on availability.

  • What if it’s raining?

Light rain doesn’t affect flower picking so the site will remain open.  However, you will need to dry your flowers out carefully once you get home.  Very heavy rain, snow or high winds make flower picking incredibly difficult and not much fun so it is likely that drop-in PYO sessions will not go ahead.  Pre-booked picking may go ahead, but I will be in contact with you individually to discuss.

  • Can I take photos?

Yes, taking photos is absolutely fine.  Please tag @naturesposy in any social media posts.

  • Can I bring my dog?

Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome to come to visit the flower field with you.  Dogs running around, upsetting other flower-pickers or digging in the flower beds will be politely asked to leave.

  • What if I accidentally damage a plant?

All flower pickers are expected to take care when cutting, including small children.  If accidental damage does occur please let me know immediately.

  • Is the flower field suitable for wheelchairs?

Unfortuantely due to the uneven nature of the ground, it is difficult for wheelchair uses to access the site. Please contact me to discuss your individual requirements.

  • Is the flower field suitable for pushchairs?

The site is muddy and uneven in places but pushchairs can be brought on to site. They are probably best parked up and your child carried with you rather than trying to access the whole site, but it is possible. Please contact me to discuss your individual requirements.

  • Will I get muddy?

The flower field is mostly laid to paths but there are a couple of areas that are not which will get a little muddy in very wet weather. It is best to wear sensible shoes/wellies if it has been raining.
