One of the most exciting projects at my new flower field is the cutting garden. This is an area designed as a series of small, garden-sized flower beds to show you what you might be able to grow in your own cutting garden at home. It’s called B’s Garden.
B’s Garden is named first and foremost after my late Mum. Mum, or Brenda or B as she was known loved gardening. I never understood why I would have to walk around the garden with her to see ‘how things were doing’ but I dutifully did. When I had my own garden I got it! Now my sister and I start off in the garden whenever one of us visits the other.
Mum never knew about my move to Frank’s Farm. She died around 6 weeks before I found out I was going to have to leave my flower field. But I know that she’d have approved of the new site and she’d have approved of me encouraging people to find their love of all things garden-y.
The name Deborah, shortened to Debbie, is an ancient Hebrew name also meaning bee. And since the flower field is filled with all sorts of bees, B’s Garden seemed even more appropriate.
Some of the ideas for B’s garden are; a perennial cutting garden, edimentals (i.e. look and taste good!), a pastel cutting garden and a woodland-esque garden. No doubt it will evolve over time, as with all gardens!
To keep B’s Garden looking at it’s best I’m inviting people to join B’s Garden Club. At the club you’ll help to maintain the garden with planting, tidying etc and also be involved in planning the flower beds for the following season. It’ll be a chance to get outside amongst the flowers, meet new people and probably end up with a few freebie flowers too! If you’re interested then drop me a line or check out the details on the website www.naturesposy.co.uk
